Our Crisis Pregnancy Care Centre started in 1992 with Barbara Porter and Vivian Kityo as the founding members. It was registered in 1994 under auspices of Youth For Christ. Mrs. Vivian Kityo has been Director of Youth for Christ Uganda since 1994. When she originally started the Crisis Pregnancy Centre she saw a great need for girls to have a place to live. In the back of the cramped YFC offices was a small structure that allowed 3 girls at a time to have a place to sleep. Still, weekly she turned girls with no place to go away as there literally was not room. She talked of one day being able to build "Mirembe House" a centre that would house up to 20 girls at once. Years of fundraising and speaking eventually paid off. In December 2001, her dream was realized as Mirembe House celebrated its grand opening. Mirembe House now under the direction of Miriam Koote continues to help pregnant girls and shares the good news of Jesus Christ through a varity of outreach programs.
